Wendy James, a cherished member of the Windsor community, passed away on November 12 after an extended illness. Known for her warmth, generosity, and genuine love for people, Wendy left an indelible mark on everyone who had the privilege of knowing her. Wendy joined the Town of Windsor’s Tax Office in July 2016, quickly becoming a familiar and welcoming presence. As a Tax Clerk, she worked closely with colleagues Cathy Elliot and Sally Voneisengrein, consistently demonstrating patience, empathy, and a remarkable ability to connect with residents.
Her bright laughter and disarming sense of humor could lift the heaviest of moods, and her dedication to making others feel seen, heard, and respected became a hallmark of her public service. Outside of work, Wendy’s devotion to her family and community shone just as brightly. She was a loving mother to her son Lincoln, cheering him on at basketball games, sharing adventures, and nurturing a bond filled with joy and pride. Wendy was also actively involved in her church and Lincoln’s school, forming countless meaningful relationships and leaving a lasting impact on those around her.
Wendy’s life was defined by compassion, joy, and a heartfelt commitment to others. Her presence brought light wherever she went, and her memory will live on in the hearts of her family, friends, coworkers, and the Windsor community. Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 24, at 10:00 AM at Hopewell Baptist Church, 280 Windsor Avenue, Windsor. All who knew her are invited to celebrate her life and share their memories of a truly remarkable woman.
